The Following lines are from a song called "Light on a Distant Hill". I believe it was written by Michael McClean and performed by the BYU Young Ambassadors..
Man: "I'd ask you if i could, Your secret to survival, You found a way to overcome such a punnishing arrival! How could you go on, The journey should have killed you, and when your cup was empty you still found a dream that filled you! ... And was the promised land quite what you bargained for...You came to find a peaceful home, but had to fight a war! And when it all seemed hopeless what sustained your final try? Why didn't you just say "I'm through" give up the dream and die!!"
Ancestors answer: "Not all of us were noble and not all of us were brave, But everyone who has a dream goes on in different ways! But theres a strength in knowing that if we could make it through the light that we were searching for might shine, so bright, in you!!!
You asked me how i stood the pain of trudging through he night... And how the seeds of hope were ever sewn...
Dreams are not worth dreaming if they're only for ourselves, It was a future generation shouting you are not alone!
And our light will Shine, On a distant hill! It may not be until long after we have gone but, we believe it will! Our light will shine on that distant hill!"
It is my hope that I will be the light my ancestors were searching for. I hope they see me shine on that distant hill!
The Love of my life
My Wife and I on a rare Vacation (Cancun 07)! Tanya hates this pic because her hair is all wet and sticking to her head! lol
My name is Jon. I'm a happily married father of 4 and i have recently found a love for doing family History. The subject of History has always been had a rather tight hold on my interests and i guess you could say i'm a History buff. Family History is something i have only begun to dive into but it has been amazing so far. I hope to use this Blog as a place to share my family History with other family members and friends, as well as anyone doing there own research who may want tips or have someone in common they are searching for. I'll also share alot about my own little family and the trials and triumphs along the way!
